When you’re in and around the make money from home circles, you’ll hear people asking, “What’s an authority site?” AND “What’s a Dedicated Site?” And, “Which one is best?”
Well, the answer really depends on what you want to do; both of them are good models for an online business. Today we’ll explore the advantages of an authority site and in my next post we’ll look at the advantages of a dedicated site.
First, let’s start with a brief description of what an authority site actually is.
An authority site is a website that involves a specific niche. It usually contains several products relating to a specific niche rather than just one product.
One of the advantages of building an authority site is that your prospect – or potential buyer – has different product options to choose from. They’re not stuck with just one choice.
If you have a dedicated site – a site that sells only one product – and your prospect is not interested in that product, then you’ve lost all chances of making a sale.
Now, of course, you have to be careful; having too many products to choose from can cause confusion, likely causing your visitors to leave your site and purchase from someone else.
A disadvantage of an authority site is that it takes a lot more time to promote. When you have a dedicated site that carries one product and one product only, you know where to focus your marketing efforts.
