This is a subject that’s very important to any make money from home business. But before I get into the most important part of your sales letter, the headline, I need to add a disclaimer so that we both understand each other.
So, here it is; EACH AND EVERY PART OF YOUR SALES PAGE IS IMPORTANT. In fact, one wrong thing and your sales letter could be a complete failure. You really need to make sure that entire sales letter is solid.
Okay, now that we’ve gotten that out of the way on to the most important part of your sales letter – the headline. As a matter of fact, when creating a sales page you will want to spend most of your time working on the headline.
To really understand why your headline is so important, you have to understand what’s going through the mind of your prospect as they hit your sales page.
Naturally, they’re going to be coming to your sales page from a variety of places, but let’s just assume that they’re coming from some kind of pre-sell. That pre-sell, if it’s doing it’s job correctly, is going to prepare the prospect by conditioning them to expect to see something when they get to that page.
Let’s say for instance, that your pre-sell is for a natural acne cure.
In your pre-sell you mention that this cure will cure the person’s acne in three days without drugs. This is certainly going to get a rise out of the prospect.
So, when they go to the sales page itself, don’t you think that seeing a headline like, “Discover A Natural Acne Product That Will Cure Your Acne In 3 Days…Without Drugs” is going to register right away because it coincides with the pre-sell…whatever that pre-sell was?
This is why a headline is so important. It reinforces that what the prospect is looking for is actually at this site.
In fact, statistics have proven that when properly constructed, a headline that is actually doing its job accounts for 80% of the sales you receive from the sales page.
The point is, that regardless of how good the rest of your sales page may be, if your headline doesn’t do it’s job, most people will leave before they read the rest of the text. They’ve clicked off your page and moved on. So make sure your headline is doing its job.
