In a previous make money from home blog entry we pondered the question of which blog platform to use for your blog; Blogger or WordPress?  This is an age old debate (well, at least as old as blogs).

Which one is better? Why? And which one should I use to build my blog; Blogger or WordPress?

Well, as I previously alluded to, the platform on which you build your blog is not as important as the content you actually populate your blog with. In other words, be sure to provide quality content.

Last time we discussed the advantages of using Blogger, this time I would like to discuss some of the advantages of using WordPress instead.

Now if you’re savvy, you’ll notice I’m using WordPress because when it comes right down to choosing, I’m a WordPress fan. Why? Let’s find out.

First of all, it’s important to note that if you want to do any type of commercial advertising on your WordPress blog, you’re going to have to use WordPress on a self hosted site only. That’s because WordPress blogs hosted on the WordPress domain do not allow any form of commercial advertising in any shape or form.

That means right off the bat using a WordPress blog over a Blogger blog is going to cost you a little more to get started – BUT, at least, you can create a domain name that’s unique for your site.

Don’t get scared though, you can pick up a domain for as little as $4 and there are hosting packages out there that cost just pennies a day.

The great thing about a self hosted blog is that you have full control over your site. Not to mention, WordPress literally has tons of plug-ins and themes to choose from, most of which can be installed for little or no cost.

The options really are limitless when it comes to customizing your blogging experience especially compared to the lack of tools and plug-ins that are available for Blogger blogs.

So which blog platform is best? It’s really just a matter of preference – but if you were to ask for my preference, I’d have to say I prefer WordPress by a long shot.
